The Alliance for Women in Media National Capital Chapter's Star Awards recognizes outstanding women in the Television and Radio industry on Excellence, Leadership, Commitment, Courage, and Mentorship. 2008 Star Award recipient: Dr. J.C. Hayward.

The National Capital Area Chapter of the Alliance for Women in Media honored Dr. J.C. Hayward for her leadership and commitment to the industry and community. Dr. J.C. Hayward is one Washington's most respected and longest-serving broadcast journalists. As the area's first female news anchor, J.C. celebrated 36th years on the air, one of only two female news anchors in the country to reach that milestone.
